A player can replay the current Challenge Road as many times as they want but will earn no additional trophies for doing this. The amount of trophies earned is displayed on the file select screen, but otherwise, the trophies serve no mechanical purpose. They will also earn a trophy, which is exclusive to their save file. "You did it, congratulations! A new Challenge Road will appear in the near future." If the player completes every level in a Challenge Road, they will be greeted with the following message: Completing an individual level will not award the player with a Mod Rift Token as usual: they must play the level individually to collect this. Dying will cause the player to lose a life, and losing all three lives will end the Challenge Road and force the player to restart from the beginning. The player may bring any modded Hats and Badges with them, but it is recommended that they also have all the vanilla Hats as well. The amount of levels included in a single road is most often 2-4, but can go as high as 7. Once the player has begun, they must complete all the levels in order. Certain levels may also require the player to have certain DLC. This can be done by opening the levels in the mod menu and selecting the "View in Workshop" button, but the levels can also be found in the "Challenge Road" category on the Steam Workshop. To play a Challenge Road, the player must first download all the required mod levels if they do not already have them. The art used for the opening is from Award Ceremony, as are the trophies that are given as rewards. The player was also given a contract while attempting the challenge, much like in Death Wish levels, but this was patched out later. Challenge Road is styled identically to the Death Wish Mode in Seal the Deal, using the same sound effects, purple Time Pieces and lives system found in several of the challenges.
